Our cookie posture follows Quebec Law 25 strict-consent semantics across every province. Non-essential categories stay off until you opt in.
§ 1
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small data file a website places on your device. We also use related technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage, browser fingerprinting, and pixels. For brevity, this page calls all of them cookies.
§ 2
Categories we use
Strictly necessaryOn by default. Authentication, age gate, province selection, CSRF, and security. Always on.
PreferenceOff by default. Saved preferences such as sport filters, theme, and province.
AnalyticsOff by default. Aggregate page-view counts, search-query frequency, and click-through rates.
MarketingOff by default. Operator-side affiliate tracking and future attribution tooling.
Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the site cannot function without them. All other categories require explicit opt-in.
§ 3
Consent banner
On first visit, CanadaGamblers shows a consent banner with Accept all, Reject non-essential, and Manage actions. Non-essential categories are off until you affirmatively accept them.
You can revisit your choices anytime through the footer link Cookie settings. Withdrawal of consent is as easy as granting it.
§ 4
Storage durations
Session cookiesCleared on browser close
Authentication30 days, refreshed on login
Province selection1 year
Age-gate confirmation1 year
Preference cookies1 year
Analytics ID13 months rolling
Affiliate click-throughOperator-side; typically 30 to 90 days
§ 5
Third-party cookies
Analytics provider: aggregate site analytics, configured for IP anonymization where supported.
Affiliate networks: operator-side tracking when you click an outbound affiliate link.
Embed providers: only when an embedded widget appears on a page you visit.
We do not allow third-party advertising networks to retarget site visitors.
§ 6
Browser controls
Clear cookies in your browser settings.
Use private or incognito browsing to avoid persistent cookies.
Use Do Not Track. We map DNT to Reject non-essential as a best-effort signal.
Use Global Privacy Control. GPC is honoured as an opt-out signal for Analytics and Marketing.
§ 7
Updates
We review cookies quarterly and on every analytics-vendor change. Material additions trigger a re-prompt of the consent banner.
§ 8
CASL and email marketing
Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation governs the commercial email, SMS, and push messages we send. Newsletter sign-up is express opt-in and separate from accepting any cookie category.
§ 9
Out-of-scope regimes
CanadaGamblers is a Canada-only product. GDPR, the UK Data Protection Act 2018, CCPA/CPRA, and similar non-Canadian regimes are out of scope because we do not knowingly serve users in those jurisdictions.
